My yoga schedule this fall includes two new classes at a yoga studio near me, so I hope that if you're local, you'll come check out a class. If not, maybe I'll see you online.
Fall Yoga Schedule
Yoga in the Park - In Person
Yoga in the Park is held at Haynes Park in Rio Rancho, NM on Thursdays from 9-10am MT. We meet at the south-west corner of the park. Bring your mat and any props you may need. This class will end for the summer Thursday, 9/25.
Gentle Flow Yoga - Online
Gentle Flow Yoga is a virtual, 60-minute class. Gentle Flow comes from Vinyasa yoga, which emphasizes smooth transitions between poses, aka a "flow". However, with Gentle Flow we move at a slower pace than typical Vinyasa classes with a focus on the breath and mindful movement. So, the movements are fluid, yet gentle. A Gentle Flow class is ideal for those with chronic conditions or who are new to yoga; however, everyone can benefit from this class. We work on improving flexibility and balance, building strength, increasing body awareness, and reducing stress. Lastly, we end class with five minutes of Savasana (Corpse Pose), which will help you feel grounded and centered. Class is held every Friday from 8-9am MT on Zoom.

Yin Yoga - Online
Yin Yoga is a great complement to other styles of yoga, such as Vinyasa and Hatha, as well as other forms of exercise. Exercise creates heat in the body, thereby targeting and opening the larger muscle groups. Yin Yoga, however, focuses on stillness, and targets the deeper connective tissues of the body (joints, ligaments, and fascia). We hold poses for extended periods (3-5 minutes or more) to soften the connective tissues and increase flexibility. If you’re an athlete, an overly active person, or an aging person looking to reduce stress and improve the deeper connective tissues of the body, give this class a try. To support you in Yin Yoga, you’ll need some props, such as a bolster, blankets, two blocks, and an eye pillow (or use a pillow for a bolster, books for blocks, and towels for blankets). Class is held on Tuesdays from 6-7pm MT on Zoom beginning Tuesday, October 7. Although Yin Yoga can be done any time of the day, this class will be a great way to end your busy day, so you can relax into your evening routine.

Chair Yoga - In Person
Chair Yoga is held at Yoga 4/1 at 10200 Golf Course Road, NW, Suite B in Albuquerque, NM. It's a 45-minute class and we'll meet every Friday from 11:30am-12:15pm MT. Chair Yoga is ideal for those with balance issues, range of motion limitations, those who can't get down on the floor, recovering from an injury or are new to yoga. We use a chair for support as we explore movements that improve strength, flexibility, and balance.

Nurture Flow - In Person
Nurture Flow is just like my Gentle Flow class described above; and is held at Yoga 4/1 at 10200 Golf Course Road, NW, Suite B in Albuquerque, NM. Class runs every Thursday from 11:30am - 12:30pm MT beginning October 2.
Yoga 4/1 has been approved as a SilverSneakers participating fitness facility, so bring your card or member number when checking in for class.
