Homemade Poultry Seasoning

I was making a recipe that called for poultry seasoning, when I realized I didn’t have any, so, I decided to make my own. This recipe is quick and easy, and you probably have all these herbs and spices in your pantry.  


Ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons dried sage

  • 3 teaspoons dried thyme

  • 2 teaspoons dried marjoram

  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary

  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (it seems strange to add nutmeg to poultry seasoning, but the little bit of nutmeg really brings the flavors together and you can't taste the nutmeg)

  • 1 teaspoon black or white pepper

  • Optional:  a pinch of garlic powder


Instructions:

  • Mix the herbs and spices in a small bowl.

  • You may grind the spices a little bit in a coffee grinder or magic bullet reserved for herbs and spices.  You don't need them powdered - just fine.

  • Transfer the mixture to an airtight container. 

  • Label the jar and store it with your other spices.


Use your poultry seasoning for Thanksgiving turkey, stuffing, gravy, as well as in chicken or pork dishes.
