This tea is nutritious as well as refreshing. Green tea is rich in polyphenol EGCG, which is an antioxidant that helps to protect our cardiovascular and nervous systems. Lemon balm is a nervine, i.e., it helps with insomnia, migraines, and it relieves tension and stress. Lemon balm also has a toning effect on the heart and circulatory system, so it helps lower blood pressure. Mints are refreshing and act as a digestive aid. I’m growing apple mint this year, which is why I used it in this recipe; but you can use any mint.
Directions:
2 tbl. of green tea leaves
1/2 tbl. fresh lemon balm leaves
1/2 tbl. fresh apple mint leaves
Add the herbs to a pot and pour 2 cups of very hot (almost boiling) water to the pot. Cover and let steep for 15 minutes. Strain; and add sweetener of your choice, such as honey or stevia. Sip and enjoy. On a hot day, this is great iced!
